My last blog introduced two famous people who suffered the indignity of sharing the same school as me.
But what of my own families heroes?
Grandfather - joined the Royal Flying Corps (RAF) at outbreak of WW1. He liked speed so much that they gave him an airship - a kind of air born mobility scooter.
Uncle - Killed over France while flying a Spitfire in WW2. No one in the family has ridden a vehicle with only three wheels since.
Great Great Grandfather - Born in Ireland. His mother sent him to buy some potatoes during the Big Famine. He ended up in London owning a big store (Derry & Toms). AS it was not a greengrocers he never did get any potatoes but he did send his mother a wheelchair so she could get to the shops herself.
With hindsight most of my family have had connections with mobility transport in one form or another. It all started when WE invented the wheel (and forgot to patent it)!
