20th February 1791 The Diary of Sam Dodman
Today visited the Shirehall, Holt. I had a long conversation with Mr Gurney Esq. He has offered to take me to Norwich. From there there is a regular Mail (Stage) Coach to London.
His Brother owns a ship ( The Adventurer) which transports goods to and from Virginia where his Brother owns a large (tobacco) estate. He is certain that the Master will take me back.
The ship is due to reach London at the end of March, winds permitting!
It looks as if my adventure to see cousin George (Washington) will be starting sooner than I expected.
